Meet the Treitlers

In a lot of ways that count, the Treitlers are like many other families. A mom and dad and two kids, all of whom love each other, support each other, and enjoy spending time together. But in a very important way, they are also different.

Marc, the Trietler dad, is an alcoholic. And he comes from a family with alcoholics. So both genetically and environmentally, Marc was predisposed to become an alcoholic. And he did.

Their story is a happy one. Marc realized what his drinking could do to his family, and he voluntarily entered rehab and has been sober now for years.

Now together Marc, his wife Rowena, his daughter, Lianna, and his son, Bennet, have written a book to help young people avoid alcoholism and they have created this website to be a resource for families and individuals dealing with the disease.

More about Marc, Rowena, Lianna, and Bennett…

Marc, the dad, enjoys spending time with his family and their new Yorkie puppy, Coco.  He is an executive of a utility company, which keeps him very busy and allows him to travel throughout the country.  When Marc isn’t working or on his phone, his hobbies include: embarrassing his wife and kids, convincing his daughter that boys are bad, passing his musical tastes to his son, cleaning-up puppy pee inside the house, and talking politics to anyone that will listen.

Rowena is a stay-at-home mom who is dedicated to raising her two children and serving her community through philanthropy. When she’s not driving the kids around to all their activities, she spends her time volunteering at school, raising money for Rady Children’s Hospital, and working for local non-profits through the National Charity League. When she’s not trying to save the world, she enjoys traveling, eating out, watching movies, attending concerts and finding peace at the spa.

Lianna is a busy teen.  When she’s not on Instagram, or Snap Chatting and Face Timing her friends, she’s diligently studying, playing soccer, rehearsing for a musical, giving a speech, or debating an argument.  In her spare time she volunteers for local charities and raises money for Rady Children’s Hospital.  In fact, she loves kids so much she wants to be a pediatrician. But whatever she’s doing, she’s doing it with her Beats headphones on, listening to her favorite playlist.

Bennett is a typical pre-teen boy. His favorite hobbies are playing Air Soft and video games, watching/filming YouTube videos, listening to his tunes, and playing sports like flag football, soccer, and baseball.  He is working towards his black belt in Tae Kwon Do and hopes to become an Eagle Scout someday.  Although he loves his puppy, he has a pretty serious collection of pigs, his favorite animal. If stranded on a deserted island, he could survive on rice, chicken wings, and chocolate.
